• Monday 16 December 2024 Spring Term PE day schedule Here is the schedule for the PE lessons for the Spring term.
• Friday 13 December 2024 Christmas Tree Festival 2024 Please visit the Christmas tree festival over the next two weekends and see the Blakeley Tree which Mrs Evans and the year 4 children have produced.
• Friday 13 December 2024 KS2 Carol Concerts Dec 2024 Well done to the KS2 children on performing at two carol concerts this week at St Benedict's church. The children, who did the readings, did an outstanding job. It was particularly lovely to receive an email from a Wombourne resident who was in the village on Fri afternoon. She emailed to comment on the lovely manners and respectful behaviour of our children as they walked to and from the church.
• Thursday 12 December 2024 Yr 3 Local History Did you know that Wombourne had a thriving nail making industry in the 1800s? Year 3 have been learning about our local history and today, we went on a walk to find the Nailers Row cottages. We looked at maps and photos to see the changes over the years. We also discussed how the nailing industry ceased to exist in Wombourne after 1889 due the industrial revolution.

• Friday 6 December 2024 Yr 5 Egyptians Work This week, Year 5 have sculpted their Egyptian inspired Canopic Jars (some complete with clay organs to go inside). A great example of cross curricular links with art and history.

• Monday 2 December 2024 Carbon Monoxide Education Our whole school assembly today was lead by Al and Safety Seymour. The children learnt about the dangers of carbon monoxide. Year 2 and Year 3 will participate in additional workshops with Safety Seymour on Mon and Tues. Year 5 and Yr 6 will then have workshops towards the end of the week.
• Sunday 1 December 2024 Happy Advent Tiny, the school tortoise, would like to wish everyone a happy advent season.

• Thursday 21 November 2024 Friction in Yr 5 Year 5 have had a fantastic afternoon testing the friction of different shoes to find out which ones have the best grip. They chose their own surface, ensured a fair test and worked amazingly well together to collect results.
• Thursday 21 November 2024 Community Spirit at Blakeley During the recent snow, we all pulled together to ensure our children got to school safely. Miss Richards organised 'a walking bus' from the bottom of the hill to stop cars trying to battle on the icy roads and Laura Richardson, one of our school Governors, got her team from Brsk and Fibre Core to grit the whole road.
• Wednesday 13 November 2024 Final Harvest of 2024 One of our final allotment gatherings before the winter has resulted in a very impressive leek....even if we do say so ourselves. Tiny the tortoise (our school pet) enjoyed the carrots. The children can't wait to get planting next year.
• Wednesday 13 November 2024 Remembrance Day in Reception Reception have had a very busy day learning about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. Every child helped to create a special fingerprint picture of Flanders Fields and joined the rest of the school in a 2 minute silence at 11am. We are so proud of you all! Blakeley will remember them.
• Sunday 10 November 2024 Lest We Forget We will remember them.Thank you to Lillie who volunteered to represent Blakeley at St Benedict's Remembrance Service today. It was lovely to see so many parents and pupils from Blakeley showing their respects.
• Sunday 10 November 2024 Improved Attendance
• Friday 8 November 2024 Yr 3 Residential- Stone Age Over 50 Yr 3 pupils enjoyed a two day residential to Laches Wood for a Flint and Fire session. The children participated in numerous activities including a caveman workshop, cave painting, spear throwing, fire making and jewellery making. In the evening, they sang songs around the campfire.
• Thursday 31 October 2024 New Applications for Reception Sept 2025 Applications open on 1st November for Reception 2025.
• Thursday 24 October 2024 PTA Disco Success Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and staff who helped with the school discos this evening. The children had a wonderful time dancing, eating sweets, playing with glow sticks and getting tattoos. We raised lots of the money for the school. This money will be used to help fund the cost of coaches for school trip or for new equipment.
• Tuesday 22 October 2024 Yr 6 DT project Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed making cottage pies today. They practised the skills of following a recipe, peeling, chopping, grating, measuring and mixing. Their final dishes were delicious.
• Tuesday 22 October 2024 Yr 5 Parent Session Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Year 5 parent workshop this morning! Children spoke wonderfully about their learning from this term and then everyone took part in the rocket mice experiment
• Monday 21 October 2024 Reading Ambassadors Our Blakeley Reading Ambassadors have taken part in training today, where they have shared and discussed various ways to further promote a love of reading across school. Sarah Luty, English advisor for Staffordshire said that Blakeley was the best school she had worked with. She was so impressed by our pupils and their enthusiasm for reading. Thank you to Miss Gilbert for organising this event.
• Monday 21 October 2024 Yr 3 DT As part of Year 3s Tribal Tales topic, the children have evaluated existing products, designed, made and evaluated their own Stone Age box for an arrow head. The children demonstrated lots of perseverance and resilience with their DT project today! Well done Year 3!
• Monday 21 October 2024 School photos- Thurs 24th Oct We have our school photographer in on Thursday. If you have a child who does not attend Blakeley and wish to have them in a photo with their siblings, you may bring them to the hall from 8.15am- 9am. All other sibling photos (nursery to Yr 6) will take place during the school day. Can all children please wear their school uniform (no PE kits).
• Wednesday 16 October 2024 Tiny the Tortoise At lunchtime, some children look after Tiny, our school tortoise. They feed him, bath him and give him some exercise. Today, they set up an assault course for him. He loved it!
• Thursday 10 October 2024 Yr 4 Roman Day 2024 Year 4 have had a brilliant day today pretending to be Romans. This morning we created our own scutums (shields). Then this afternoon, we practised being centurions, marching and defending our armies. Well done year 4.
