Monday 3 February 2025 Children's Mental Health Week 2025 This week, is Children's Mental Health Week. Each year group will discuss a different emotion during their PSHE lessons.Year 3 started their lessons today. Our emotion is 'calm.' We learnt how to meditate; how to use a grounding technique; and how to use breathing techniques to remain calm when we feel sad, angry or anxious.

Sunday 2 February 2025 Chinese New Year in EYFS Lunar New Year Fun in Nursery Our Nursery children had an amazing time learning all about the Lunar New Year and its vibrant celebration! We immersed ourselves in the Chinese culture, made our own delicious Chinese food, and even created our very own Chinese dragon and dances! By introducing our children to different cultures and traditions, comparing them to our own family celebrations, we help them develop an understanding and appreciation for diversity. The Lunar New Year celebrations foster joy, unity, and a spirit of togetherness

Thursday 23 January 2025 Yr 1 visit to St Benedict's church Our Yr 1 pupils enjoyed a trip to St Benedict Biscop church in Wombourne yesterday. This was part of our RE curriculum. In year one, our pupils study the teachings and beliefs of Christianity. Many thanks to Sarah Mullen who showed the children around the church to help them identify the different parts.

Saturday 18 January 2025 Police Visit Reception Reception have had a fantastic week learning about our emergency services. We were lucky enough to have a visit from PCSO Alex Rathbone, PC Tom Evans and PC John Hawkins. They talked to us about their job role, their uniform and the police car. The children listened carefully and asked some interesting questions. We are really proud of how polite and respectful our children were. Well done Reception!

Wednesday 15 January 2025 Greek Day Year 3 had their Greek day today. They made tzatziki, tried some Greek food; drew sketches of Medusa and then made clay busts. Lastly they had a go at a few activities from the Ancient Greek Olympics.

Monday 13 January 2025 Music Performance We had a real treat today- a musical performance from Entrust Music Service. The children sat enthralled for over an hour listening & singing along to the different songs and instruments. Some children even got to try new musical instrument.

Monday 6 January 2025 School Closure- Monday 6th Jan Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to close the school today due to flooding, the ceiling collapsing and power outages. We currently have contractors in school assessing the damage. We are hoping to open tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Friday 13 December 2024 Christmas Tree Festival 2024 Please visit the Christmas tree festival over the next two weekends and see the Blakeley Tree which Mrs Evans and the year 4 children have produced.

Friday 13 December 2024 KS2 Carol Concerts Dec 2024 Well done to the KS2 children on performing at two carol concerts this week at St Benedict's church. The children, who did the readings, did an outstanding job. It was particularly lovely to receive an email from a Wombourne resident who was in the village on Fri afternoon. She emailed to comment on the lovely manners and respectful behaviour of our children as they walked to and from the church.

Thursday 12 December 2024 Yr 3 Local History Did you know that Wombourne had a thriving nail making industry in the 1800s? Year 3 have been learning about our local history and today, we went on a walk to find the Nailers Row cottages. We looked at maps and photos to see the changes over the years. We also discussed how the nailing industry ceased to exist in Wombourne after 1889 due the industrial revolution.

Friday 6 December 2024 Yr 5 Egyptians Work This week, Year 5 have sculpted their Egyptian inspired Canopic Jars (some complete with clay organs to go inside). A great example of cross curricular links with art and history.

Monday 2 December 2024 Carbon Monoxide Education Our whole school assembly today was lead by Al and Safety Seymour. The children learnt about the dangers of carbon monoxide. Year 2 and Year 3 will participate in additional workshops with Safety Seymour on Mon and Tues. Year 5 and Yr 6 will then have workshops towards the end of the week.

Thursday 21 November 2024 Friction in Yr 5 Year 5 have had a fantastic afternoon testing the friction of different shoes to find out which ones have the best grip. They chose their own surface, ensured a fair test and worked amazingly well together to collect results.

Thursday 21 November 2024 Community Spirit at Blakeley During the recent snow, we all pulled together to ensure our children got to school safely. Miss Richards organised 'a walking bus' from the bottom of the hill to stop cars trying to battle on the icy roads and Laura Richardson, one of our school Governors, got her team from Brsk and Fibre Core to grit the whole road.

Wednesday 13 November 2024 Final Harvest of 2024 One of our final allotment gatherings before the winter has resulted in a very impressive leek....even if we do say so ourselves. Tiny the tortoise (our school pet) enjoyed the carrots. The children can't wait to get planting next year.

Wednesday 13 November 2024 Remembrance Day in Reception Reception have had a very busy day learning about Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. Every child helped to create a special fingerprint picture of Flanders Fields and joined the rest of the school in a 2 minute silence at 11am. We are so proud of you all! Blakeley will remember them.
