Thursday 7 March 2024 World Book Day 2024 In true Blakeley style, we have fully embraced World Book Day. Today, the children have been reading different stories, they were part of the live lesson from BBC, they designed bookmarks and dressed as their favourite book characters. We have also been running our 'Masked Reader' competition all week.

Wednesday 6 March 2024 Yr 3 visit to the mosque Year 3 have been to visit the Jamia Masjid Mosque in Wolverhampton today as part of their RE work about Islam. The children got a tour of the mosque and they asked many questions. We are so proud of their exemplary behaviour and their knowledge about Islam inlcuding the features of the mosque. Many thanks to Zakariya for showing us round.

Monday 4 March 2024 Water Safety Today, the pupils in KS2 had a water safety assembly by Sarah from the Canal and River Trust. They were reminded how to stay safe near rivers and canals; what to do if they saw someone in distress in the water; and how to spot potential dangers.

Wednesday 28 February 2024 Yr 5 Family Session Thank you to all who attended our Year 5 parent workshop this morning. It was so lovely to see the children sharing their knowledge of sketching techniques. We have some amazing artists amongst our pupils and parents! We hope you enjoyed it .

Saturday 24 February 2024 New Extra Curricular clubs for Spring 2 Our new extra curricular clubs started this week. These include cooking club, a gardening club, chess club, recorder club, Musical Theatre club as well as football, basketball, tennis and cricket clubs.

Saturday 24 February 2024 Triumph at maths competition Tis week, four of our Year 4 children represented the school in a maths challenge hosted at Wolverhampton Girls High School. They competed against local schools in a range of challenges and logic problems. Alongside their excellent behaviour, our young mathematicians came 3rd (1 point off 2nd!) and 15th place out of 40 other teams! Well done children

Sunday 4 February 2024 Children's Mental Health Week Children's Mental Health Week takes place this week and the theme this year is 'My Voice Matters'. My Voice Matters is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to express themselves. When we feel empowered, there's a positive impact on our wellbeing. We will be discussing this with the children during their PSHE lessons and in assembly.

Friday 2 February 2024 Circus Time in Nursery Nursery have been 'clowning' around this week as they have explored their Circus topic. They have listened to circus themed stories, made a biscuit bear, voted for their favourite biscuit and put on an amazing performance inside their very own 'Big Top' Circus!

Tuesday 30 January 2024 Yr 3 Ancient Greek Day The year 3 children had a Greek day. They enjoyed tasting Greek food, making tzatziki, drawing and making busts of Medusa and participating in the 'Olympics'.

Thursday 25 January 2024 Introducing Kimmy Kindness As part of our Behaviour Policy, we have a range of characters that link to learning behaviours. These are used to encourage good attitudes and behaviours in school. The children suggested we have a kindness character to align with our school rules.

Tuesday 16 January 2024 Emergency Vehicles Visit As part of our learning about emergency vehicles, Reception had some special visitors today. PCSO’s Paula and Alex brought their police car to school. The children enjoyed learning about all the different things they have to carry in their car for when they are called out for an emergency. They loved getting to sit in the car and hear the sirens! Huge thanks to Paula and Alex for making our afternoon so special, the children learnt lots about all the important work you do in our community.

Tuesday 16 January 2024 After School Provision After School club have been super busy over the last couple on months doing lots of craft activities, Lego building, board games, Hama beads, fuse ball tournaments and having fun with friends. We are looking forward to lots more fun in the months to come.

Sunday 14 January 2024 Yr 6 Heart Dissections Thank you to everyone who attended the year six family lesson this morning. We hope you enjoyed the heart dissection and learnt a lot about the structure of the heart.

Wednesday 10 January 2024 PTA Meeting School PTAs get a bad reputation for being an unfriendly and cliquey bunch but this isn't true at Blakeley. The PTA is run by parents and teachers who just want to help their children and the school. They are holding their spring term meeting on Wed 17th Jan at 7pm at the Waggon and Horses. Come and join us for a drink and a chat.

Tuesday 19 December 2023 EYFS Nativity Well done to our youngest children for performing in their first production on stage. The pupils did fantastically and we are so proud of them. Thank you to the parents for helping with costumes and thank you to the staff for their hard work.

Thursday 14 December 2023 Christmas Story Yesterday, we welcomed Sarah Mullen from St Benedict Biscop church into Nursery. The children listened carefully to 'The Christmas Story' and took part in a crafty activity making Mary or Joseph. Thank you for visiting Sarah.

Thursday 14 December 2023 Carol Singing in the Community Well done to our choir who went to Bridge Manor Care home today to entertain the residents with their beautiful singing. We hope the carols put everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Wednesday 13 December 2023 KS2 Carol Concerts We had the first of our carol concerts today for Yr 5 & 6 at St Benedict Biscop church today. The children sang beautifully with lots of enthusiasm. Well done to the Yr 6 readers who did a brilliant job. The Yr 3 & 4 carol concert is at 2pm on Friday.

Tuesday 12 December 2023 Generous Donation Many thanks to the generous donation from OSB Group of £500 to our school PTA. This will be put towards the cost of coaches for school trips which in turn makes the cost cheaper for parents. Many thanks to Sarah Lathbury for securing this donation for us.

Thursday 7 December 2023 Singing in the Community A very festive evening at the Wombourne Civic Centre tonight. Our choir helped get everyone in the Christmas spirit. We are very proud of them all. It was so brave of them to perform to a packed hall. Well done everyone!

Thursday 7 December 2023 Reception Christmas Crafts Reception would like to thank everyone who came to our Christmas craft session this morning. We all had a great time and the children loved sharing their crafts with you. We decorated gingerbread men, made reindeer food for Christmas Eve, made some seasonal lollipop friends, made wreaths and Santas, snowmen and Christmas trees. What a busy, fun and exciting morning! Your support is invaluable and very much appreciated.

Thursday 30 November 2023 After School Clubs We offer a comprehensive range of after school activities at Blakeley throughout the year for all year groups. As the dark nights are drawing in, the focus has changed to indoor activities. Tonight, the children started a 3D drawing and illusion club. Here are some of the results.

Tuesday 28 November 2023 Increasing Numbers Staffordshire Council have increased the number of children we can have in a year group (from 50 to 60 pupils). This means we now have spaces in every year, except year six and nursery. Please contact Miss Richards if you would like to visit our school.

Wednesday 15 November 2023 Competition Launch To tie in with Anti-Bullying Week, we are launching a competition to design and draw our new learning behaviour character. We would like to have a character for kindness. The picture of the character has to drawn in colour on A5 paper. Please write your child's name and class on the back. All designs need to be put in the box by the hall by Fri 1st Dec. A winner will be chosen and their design will be made into a sticker.

Wednesday 15 November 2023 Remembrance Day Thank you to Mia and Robert for representing Blakeley Heath this morning, at the Remembrance Service at St Benedict Biscop church. It was a beautiful service and a perfect way to reflect and give thanks.

Sunday 12 November 2023 Yr 3 Residential - Flint and Fire The pupils in Yr 3 had an amazing residential stay at Laches Wood for a 'Flint and Fire' experience to complement their work on the Stone Age.

Wednesday 8 November 2023 Anti Bullying Week 2023 To raise awareness of anti bullying week, we will be inviting the children to come to school wearing odd socks to signify our uniqueness. The children will listen to an assembly and the focus of their work in PSHE lessons will be anti bullying.

Thursday 26 October 2023 Yr 4 Roman Day Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic Roman Day yesterday! We compared life in Ancient Rome to life in Modern Britain, cooked Roman biscuits, made our own Roman shields and put them to the test during the afternoon by practising some battle formations out on the field. Well done Year 4!

Thursday 26 October 2023 PTA Disco Thank you to everyone who came to the school disco. Thank you to all the staff and parents who volunteered to help. We raised over £700. This money will be used to benefit all the pupils at Blakeley.

Saturday 21 October 2023 Spider on the Loose! Nursery had a very special surprise visitor this week to end their topic on spiders! They enjoyed learning all about spiders and webs! We had a Spiderman HQ role-play area, made clay spiders, bendy spiders and enjoyed washing the spiders down the drain pipes outside. Thank You Spider-Man

Wednesday 18 October 2023 Yr 1 Sewing Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came to help with our Yr 1 sewing lesson. The children designed and made a hand puppet out of felt.

Monday 16 October 2023 Harvest 2023 Thank you for all the donations for harvest. We have donated over 21 full carrier bags of tins to the Wombourne Food Bank. The children enjoyed the harvest assembly with Paul Wilmott and Dudley the duck.

Friday 13 October 2023 Yr 2 trip to Tamworth Castle Our year 2 pupils had a lovely time at Tamworth Castle today as part of their 'towers, turrets and tunnels' topic. They did workshops in the morning and explored the castle in the afternoon. No trip would be complete without a trip to the gift shop.

Wednesday 11 October 2023 Yr 1 trip to the church Our Yr 1 children went to St Benedict Biscop church today as part of their studies in Christianity. They learnt about the different parts of the church and they listened well to Sarah Mullen, the church's youth worker. The children even got to do an animal hunt, looking for animal figures hidden in the harvest flower arrangements.

Monday 9 October 2023 World Mental Health Day In assembly today, we discussed the importance of looking after our mental health. We discussed how different people find different ways to relax and unwind. We also discussed the importance of talking to someone if you feel sad, low or angry.
